Robert A. Marx Jr.
Robert A. Marx Jr., 75, of Morris, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, Illinois, with his family by his side.
He was born August 18, 1949, in Olney, IL, son of Robert and Ellen (Bratsch) Marx. He graduated from Morris Community High School with the class of 1967. Later on, he attended Joliet Junior College. He married Kim Anne Meier on February 18, 1978. They lived all of their married life in Morris.
He started his career working as a supervisor at Joliet Arsenal. Then, he owned and operated the Speed Shop in Mazon, IL, doing custom hot rod work. He was a volunteer Firefighter for many years in Morris. Later, he was employed for over 30 years for Caterpillar Tractor Company. After retiring from Caterpillar, he was employed as a correctional officer for the Grundy County Sheriff Department.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Marx; his sons Rob Marx of Dwight, IL, and Rick Marx of Marseilles, IL. He is survived by his grandchildren Taylor, Christian, Connor, Cameron, and Cody. He is also survived by siblings: Karen (Gerald) Marshall of Morris, IL; Jerry Marx of Morris, IL; Darrell (Lynn) Marx of Morris, IL; and Dennis (Kris) Marx of Ohio; his sister-in-law Deb Marx of Morris, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ronald Marx and John Marx.
He was a member of the Morris Eagles Club and the Moose lodge. He was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Morris.
Robert enjoyed gardening and keeping his yard in pristine condition.
Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church in Morris.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Morris with Pastor Steve Larson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 at the Fruland Funeral Home, 121 West Jefferson Street in Morris, from 4-7pm.
