Robert Leland Male

Age 85 of Morris and formerly Mazon, passed away Saturday July 25, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born June 26, 1924 in Gardner, Robert was a son of the late Frank and Ina McDonald-Male. He was raised and educated in the Mazon area and was a graduate of Mazon High School. On December 18, 1948, Robert married Mary F. Larson in Morris and she survives. Robert was employed by the Morris Paper Mill for nearly 40 years and later worked in Housekeeping at Morris Hospital. Robert was known for his love of woodworking and watching wildlife. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and truly enjoyed his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Mary; five children: Jeanne Lloyd of Morris, Pam (Andy) Payne of Oklahoma, Terry (Danette) Male of Wyoming, Bobbi (Pete) Brockman of Verona and Rhonda (Jimmy) Rynearson of Mazon, as well as another daughter Joanne. (20) grandchildren; (36) great grandchildren; one brother: Bud (Faye) Male of Morris; two sisters: Leah (the late Bob) Christensen of Gardner and Ardella (Jim) Harris of Gravois Mills, Missouri; brothers and sisters-in-law: Dorothy Male of Henry, Illinois, Betty (Russell) Kukman of Morris, Sylvia (Bill) McCormack of Verona, John (Lessie) Larson of Morris, Jackie (the late Jim) Larson of Dixon and Judy (the late Chuck) Larson of Morris and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as special friends: Claudine Mathis of Louisville, Illinois and Audrey Mallicote of Morris.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; one son Robert Andrew in infancy; four brothers: Richard Male, Jack (Teddy) Male, Charles Male and Edwin Male and one sister Frances (Sim) Muzzarelli.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Tuesday July 28, 2009 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday July 29th at 11:00AM in the funeral home with Pastor Pete Hopkins from Calvary Baptist Church in Morris officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris and pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Eric Melby, Randy Joe Payne, Joshua Payne, Jason Brockman, Luke Brockman, Drew Wethington, Tyler Fink, Cody Fink and Steve Marshall.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Robert's memory to the Grundy County 4-H.
