Robert J. Kezerle, 91, of Morris, IL entered eternal life February 15, 2021 at The Gardens at Park Pointe in Morris Illinois.
Born September 26, 1929 to Joseph and Frances (Sustersic) Kezerle in Joliet, IL. He was the youngest of three children.
As a child, Bob attended Catholic school. His mischievous childhood was spent running the neighborhood of Statesville Penitentiary, swimming the quarries, turning over outhouses and jumping freight trains.
Robert married Betty (Lund) at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris, IL where they lived and raised their three children. The moment Bob first laid eyes on Betty, he knew she was the one. When Betty passed, they were three weeks shy of celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. After retiring from Kendall Grundy FS, Bob worked for Robert Narvick maintaining rental properties.
Bob accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1970. He loved the Lord dearly and spent much time devoted to Him. He read and studied the Bible daily, attended Moody Bible Institute, taught Sunday school and was a church deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Gideon’s International. Bob enjoyed serving and being a part of the men’s Prayer Breakfast at BLC where he was a member for 50 Years. Bob once enjoyed roller skating (where he met his beloved Betty), golf, bowling and fishing. He was a devoted “Papa” to each and every one of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Surviving are his children, Robert W (Sally Tavarez) Kezerle of Sacramento, CA, Diane M (Tom Sr.) Bishop of Braidwood, IL and Karen Kezerle of Morris IL.; grandchildren, Tom Jr. (Daniela) Bishop, Jacob Bishop, Hannah (Drew Brandt) Bishop, Jennifer (Keith) Carroll and Kurt Childress; great-grandchildren, Brent (Leslie), Paige, Madison, Mason, Ruby, Carter and Ivy; sister-in-law, Lilian Kezerle of Crest Hill, IL.; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Lilly Kezerle; brother, Raymond Kezerle; grandson William, granddaughter, Abbey; brothers- in- law, William and Jack; in-laws Gladys and Vernon Battersby and Henry Lund.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris with Pastor Patrick Lohse officiating. Interment will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Memorials may be given to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
