Robert Emery

Age 82 of Coal City, formerly of Berwyn and Braidwood, died Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet.

Born June 16, 1939 in Berwyn, Illinois, Robert was a son of Thomas and Margaret (Halley) Emery. He was raised and educated on the west side of Chicago where he graduated from Austin High School. Robert enlisted in the United States Army until his honorable discharge from military service, and began a career with Commonwealth Edison. He started as a meter reader and was promoted as a supervisor with his own crew, retiring after over 30 years of employment. Robert was an independent man with a great sarcastic sense of humor, who enjoyed trap shooting and playing golf at Cinder Ridge Golf Course. Though he was stubborn, he was a genuinely kind man who would give the shirt of his back to anyone in need.

Private interment with full military honors were held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
