Robert “Bob” Butterfield

Age 91 of Wesley Twp., Wilmington, passed away Thursday May 21, 2015 at Miller Health Care Center in Kankakee.

Born January 28, 1924, Robert was a son of the late Norman and Stella Mae (Reber) Butterfield. He was raised and educated in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1941.  On September 12, 1942, Bob married Elaine Thontlin at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. He farmed in Wesley Township and was in the trucking and hauling business for many years, holding his CDL license until the age of 87.  Bob was a member of the Elwood Lodge No. 919 A.F. & A.M. and will be remembered as a great car enthusiast.  He enjoyed participating in car shows local and afar, and was a member of the Momence Antique Auto Club and the Auburn Cord Dusenburg Club.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years Elaine; two children: Charles (Teresa) Butterfield of Manteno and Thomas Butterfield of Wilmington; three granddaughters: Charlei (Randy) Feineis of South Korea, Joanna (Marc) Malmquist of Peoria and Veronica Butterfield of Bloomington; one grandson: Arthur (Annie) Butterfield of Virginia; one great granddaughter: Bobbilynn Feineis; one brother: Dale Butterfield, and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday May 26, 2015 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington with Masonic services being conducted at 7:00 p.m. by Elwood Lodge No. 919 A.F. & A.M. Funeral services will follow Wednesday morning, May 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Harvey Gaither officiating.  Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Bob’s memory to the charity of a donor’s choosing.
