Rita Marie Brown

Age 87 of Morris, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday January 14, 2012 at her home.

Born July 10, 1924 in Morris, Rita was a daughter of the late Anton and Marie Haldorson-Darin. She completed her primary education from 1930-1938 at Thum School and graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1942. On November 26, 1955, Rita married William Brown in St. Louis, and he preceded her in 1978. She worked at the Elwood Ammunition Plant from 1942 through 1945, and then gained employment with the Grundy County Farm Bureau in 1946. It was at the Farm Bureau that Rita dedicated 44 years of service as an office secretary and bookkeeper until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, as well as the Grundy County Farm Bureau. In past years, Rita greatly enjoyed traveling and boating, and will most be remembered for her love of family gatherings.

Survivors include two brothers: Roy (Shirley) Darin of Morris and John Darin of Sarasota, Florida; one sister Mary Talty of Darien, Illinois; one step-daughter Judy (David) Morgan of Morris; one step grandson and two step granddaughters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Marie Darin; three brothers: Anthony Darin in childhood, Willis Darin and Leo Darin; one nephew Gary Talty and one niece Rebecca Darin-Iverson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday January 18, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 516 East Jackson Street in Morris from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Revered Ed Howe, CR officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morris, where Rita will be laid to rest with her husband William. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Ronald Darin, James Darin, Anthony Darin, Mark Darin, Michael Olson, Brian Olson, Brian Laughary, Daniel Kiehl, Devin Hill and Tanner Hill.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Rita's memory to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund, 516 East Jackson Street, Morris, Illinois 60450
