"Ryk"

Age 60 of Yorkville, Illinois, formerly of Gardner, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 10, 2025 at his residence.

Born February 25, 1964 in Morris, Illinois, Ryk is the son of Ronald "Sam" and LaVonne (Fatlan) Hansen. He was raised and educated in Gardner and graduated from Gardner South Wilmington High School with the Class of 1982. He furthered his education at Western Illinois University where he had lots of fun and made friends. Ryk worked as a fork lift operator and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and White Sox. He was a free spirit who lived life his way, making countless friends along the way, and was the life of the party. Above all else, he was the best uncle and his nieces and nephews were his pride and joy. Ryk will be deeply missed by family and friends who will forever remember his kind heart.

Survivors include his parents, Ronald “Sam” and LaVonne Hansen; three siblings: Rob (Susie) Hansen of Plainfield, Illinois, Rhonda (Jerry) Price of Channahon, Illinois, and Renae Silver of Romeoville, Illinois; nieces and nephews: Jake, Jerad, and Katie Price, Lanie and Sam Hansen, and Lars Silver; as well as his dear friend, Brad Toney, and his feline companion, Summer.

Ryk was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his brother, Randy Hansen.

The family will receive friends at Reeves Funeral Home, 203 North Liberty Street, in Gardner on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Greg Olson from United Lutheran Church in Gardner will officiate, and burial will follow at Braceville Gardner Cemetery.
