Richard C. Schultz

Age 79 of Wilmington and formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, November 12, 2016 surrounded by loving family.

Born March 8, 1937 in Chicago, Richard Charles was a son of the late Charles Otto and Theresa E. (Ebinger) Schultz. He was raised in Chicago; graduated from Tilden High School, and went on to honorably serve in the United States Army. Richard worked as a Millwright, and was a 50-year member of Millwright Local #1693 in Lisle, IL. During his several years of service with the Chicago Police Department he met the love of his life Roberta “Bobbie” Ann Watson at Mammy’s Restaurant. After giving his life to Christ, he married Roberta Ann on August 9, 1975 at the First Baptist Church of Hammond.

He was a devoted husband and father, and esteemed by everyone he knew. He was a phenomenal handyman and will be remembered as a beloved friend and neighbor to many.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years Roberta; three daughters: Kimberly (Elbert "Sonny") Shaw of Crete, Tracy J. Schultz of Wilmington and Mary (Michael) Ellsworth of Bolingbrook; (11) grandchildren: Amber, Xavier, Jacky, Niko, Marissa, Kaitlin, Elbert "Trey", Kaiden, Amelia, Noah and Olivia; two sisters: Mathilda "Tillie" Graves of New Port Ritchey, Florida and Elsie Keane of Inverness, Florida, and brothers and sisters-in-law: Jeannie (Les) Konicki of Oswego and Eugene (Denise) Climer of Lemont, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Richard will not be forgotten by the many people whose lives he touched. He loved his dear friend Dave Landmichl of Wilmington as his own son. He greatly esteemed dear friends: Darlene Watson of Surprise, AZ; Richard Korona of Wilmington; Cheri Kramer of West Chicago; Lyn & Lynn Allott of Wilmington, and not to mention countless others.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: William "Bill" Schultz and Charles "Chuck" Schultz.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 between the hours of 6 pm and 9 pm at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Friday morning, November 18th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.

Burial with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois at 11:30 a.m.

Pallbearers will be: Elbert Shaw, Jr., Elbert Shaw, III, Xavier Chavez, Niko Esparza, Michael Ellsworth, and Dave Landmichl.
