Richard T. Redmond, 86, of Morris died on Saturday December 3, 2011 at Walnut Grove Village in Morris.
Mr. Redmond was born on April 29, 1925, in Morris, Ill., the son of Thomas and Laura (Haldemann) Redmond.
He married Sylvia A. Schaefer on June 17, 1950, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris.
In 1947, he opened Redmond's Jewelry, which he owned and operated in Coal City for many years and which is now owned and operated by his son Robert.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas R. Redmond of Champaign and Robert A. Redmond of Morris; two granddaughters, Laura Redmond and Caitlin Redmond, both of Morris; a great-granddaughter Zoe; a brother-in-law and his wife, Herman and Carol Schaefer of rural Morris, and their family; and cousins.
Mr. Redmond was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife Sylvia Redmond in 2004.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday December 7, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris with a Mass of Christian Burial. Reverend Ed Howe, CR will officiate. There will be a visitation at the church starting at 9:00 a.m. before the Mass. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morris.
Reeves Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of arrangements.
