Richard L. Peart
Age 85 and a lifelong resident of Goose Lake Township, passed away Friday December 2, 2011 at his home.
Born February 12, 1926, Richard was a son of the late Cuthbert Jeremiah and Edna Mae Walker-Peart. He was a graduate of Coal City High School and farmed in Goose Lake Township his entire life. On August 10, 1952, Richard married Dorothy Mae Bennett in the Presbyterian Church in Coal City, and she preceded him on October 15, 2009. Richard held employment with Kerr Glass in Plainfield for 25 years, where he was a shipping foreman, and was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Goose Lake. He will be remembered for his love of fishing and hunting in his younger years, as well as for having a deep passion for his family. Richard truly cherished the time spent with his late wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his four children: Peggy Hanley and her husband Kevin Kolodziej of Colorado, Mary Ellen Husa of Normal, Richard D. and his wife Tammy Peart of Goose Lake and Lynda Sue Peart and her fiance Alan Corbin of Bloomington; seven grandchildren: Michael (Debbie) Hanley of Colorado, Nathan (Anna) Hanley of Colorado, Heidi (Dave) McKernan of Colorado, Kristi Arthur of Normal, Kerri (Brandon) Meredith of Reddick, Tasha (Mike) Saltzman of Morris and Collin Hundley of Goose Lake; seven great grandchildren: Jared, Jana, Kendall, Logan, Christian, Grace and Mila with another expected in February and one brother-in-law: Robert (Masako) Bennett of Shorewood, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and wife Dorothy Mae.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Monday December 5, 2011 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Homes, Ltd., 75 North Broadway in Coal City. (815/634-2125) Richard will then lie in state Tuesday December 6th at Faith Baptist Church of Goose Lake, 3950 Goose Lake Road (at Pine Bluff Road), from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 10:00AM. Pastor Caleb Counterman will officiate and burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Jared Arthur, Jeff Love, Kevin Kolodziej, Duane Ehrler, Michael Hanley, Nathan Hanley, John Noecker, Collin Hundley, Alan Corbin, Joe Giltmer and Mike Saltzman.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Richard's memory to Faith Baptist Church of Goose Lake, 3950 Goose Lake Road, Morris, Illinois 60450.
