Age 86 of Diamond, formerly Chicago and Wilmington, passed away Monday December 26, 2011 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Born October 2, 1925 in Chicago, Richard was a son of the late Arthur and Frances Hill-Hopkins. He was raised and educated in Chicago, and graduated from Kelly High School. After High School Richard entered into the United States Navy, where he honorably served in the Southwest Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. Richard married Henrietta Cannon, and she preceded him in death in 1993. Richard was a retired Chicago Fireman and in his free time enjoyed traveling, woodworking and fishing. Richard will be remembered as cherishing the time spent with his family; children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include four children: David Hopkins of Ohio, James (Darlene) Hopkins of Frankfort, Joy (Rudy) Campanotto of Manhattan and Diana Hopkins of Chicago; daughter-in law: Beverly (the late Warren) Hopkins of Frankfort; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister June (the late Ted) Yakaitis of Chicago; sister-in-law Anne (the late Ambrose) Hopkins of Chicago; brother-in-law Richard (the late Marion) Novak of Carol Stream, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many friends on the Chicago Police and Fire Departments.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Henrietta in 1993, son Warren in 1994; three brothers: David (Margaret) Hopkins, Ambrose Hopkins and Benjamin Hopkins and four sisters: Isabelle (Joseph) Klima, Lillian (John) Antelak, Fay (Floyd) Hamilton and Marion Novak.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held Thursday December 29, 2011 between the hours of 2:00pm and 9:00pm at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Burial will follow Saturday December 31, 2011 in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Elkhorn, Wisconsin at 11:00am. Family and Friends wishing to attend the graveside services may meet at Haase-Lockwood Funeral Home (262-723-6390), 730 East Wisconsin Street in Elkhorn, Wisconsin at 10:00am.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Richard's memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Waterstone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431.
