Richard Doss

Richard “Dickie” Doss, age 83 of Morris died Sunday night, July 28th, 2024 at Arcadia Care of Morris.
Richard was born January 8th, 1941 in Morris to Cecil and Florence Doss. Richard had 2 brothers and a sister: Robert, Roger and Carol. Richard received his education at Opdyke School. He went to work early in life as a farm laborer for the Limbach family and the Mitchell family. He also worked for Morris Paper Mill, Morris Country Club and Morris Community High School.
Richard volunteered as an assistant coach for the Opdyke Youth Baseball Team and he thoroughly enjoyed it. As a fan, he loyally followed Morris High School sports attending games and listening to broadcasts on the radio.
In Richard’s journey through life, he was helped by many people. Deep thanks is extended to those goodhearted souls and to Catholic Charities, Arcadia Care, Grundy County Health Department, Meals on Wheels and Lightway Hospice.
Richard was preceded in death by his brothers and sister.
A visitation for Richard will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. with a service at 10 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Roy Backus officiating, on August 1st, 2024 at the Fruland Funeral Home in Morris.
