Richard G. Barger, 91, of Morris, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Morris Hospital with his family by his side.
Born November 29, 1929 in Morris, he was the son of Carl and Norah (Ryan) Barger. He attended Morris High School.
Richard married Dale Glover on May 27, 1954 at the Central Avenue Methodist Church in Glendale, California. They lived most of their married life in Morris. He was a veteran of the U S Army and served during the Korean conflict. He was a talented and hardworking diesel mechanic. For many years he was employed at Tri State Trucking Company in Seneca and also for George Winkel Excavating.
He is survived by his children, Garold Barger of Morris and Jill (Frank, deceased) Vigna, of Ocala, Florida; six grandchildren, Melissa (Todd) Manke, Jennifer Workman, Matt (Dana) Hathorn, Mary Vigna, Michael Barger, and Kristen Barger; seven great grandchildren; one sister; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his loving wife, Dale in 2009 and three sisters.
He was a great collector, a story teller and loved to travel the back roads.
A memorial service to be announced at a later date will be held at the Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St. in Morris with Pastor Steve Larson officiating. Inurnment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
