Richard A. Baker
Age 57 of Gardner, passed away Friday afternoon May 17, 2013 at ASTA Care Center of Pontiac.
Born April 25, 1956 in Morris, Richard was a son of the late Charles Clinton and Lois Matte Hinthorn-Baker. He worked as a meat cutter for Sowers Grocery Store in Gardner and Testa's in Coal City, prior to gaining employment as a caregiver at the Fox Developmental Center in Dwight. Rich was a great Chicago Cubs fan, as well as enjoyed all Chicago sports. He was an avid reader and dearly loved his pets, especially his dogs Petie, Matte and Baby.
Survivors include his wife Pamela, whom he married July 17, 2003 in Key West, Florida; one son Ty Baker; two step-daughters: Jennifer (Aiden James) Crowe and Tara (Oliver) Sabugal; two grandchildren: Ella Veronica Sabugal and Aiden James Crowe; three brothers and two sisters: Dennis (Vicki) Baker and Terry (Barb) Baker, both of Gardner, Brenda (Mike) Foster of Knoxville, Tennessee, Tricia (Keith) Hockings of Bonne Terre, Missouri and Steve (Joann) Baker of Gardner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Pamela Lynn (1959).
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Tuesday May 21, 2013 from 1:00PM until time of funeral service 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 203 Liberty Street in downtown Gardner. Pastor Jan Chandler from the Church of Hope will officiate.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Rich's memory to an animal humane charity of the donor's choosing.
