Richard A. Anderson, 71, of Helmar, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.
Born November 30, 1950 in Aurora, he was the son of Everett and Rosella (Sebby) Anderson. He graduated from Newark High School with the class of 1968 and also Illinois State University. Rich married Elaine Hauge on February 8, 1975 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris and they lived all of their married life in Helmar. He owned and operated E. A. Anderson and Son Garage and later was employed as bus mechanic at Sandwich School District.
He is survived by his loving wife Elaine of 46 years; his children, Ryan(Carrie) Anderson of Helmar and Keith (Stephanie) Anderson of Yorkville; five grandchildren, Nolan, Lucas, Ashley, Ellie and Everett; one sister, Shirley (Don) Hacker of Helmar; brother-in-law, Neil (Carol) Hauge of Lockport; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn(Tom) Taylor of Geneva and Geri Anderson of Newark; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, Milton.
He was a member of the Helmar Lutheran Church.
Rich enjoyed working with antique gas engines, Sunday rides in his Corvette, family boating and played fast pitch softball for many years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris with Pastor Patrick Lohse officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment will follow at Helmar Cemetery.
