Raymond D. "Ray" Myers
Age 87, of St. Johns, Florida, passed away February 18, 2013 at the Clyde Lassen State Veterans Nursing Home in St. Augustine, Florida.
Ray was born and grew up in Colfax, Illinois and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 16. He proudly served his country during W.W. II. After the war, he met and married Helen Rink in Wilmington, where they lived for several years. Ray enjoyed a 30 year career as an electrician for PanAm, at Cape Canaveral, and later in Las Vegas and Houston. He enjoyed his retirement in the mountains of Idaho and moved to St. Johns in 2004 to live closer to family.
He is survived by a son, John (Melanie) Myers of St. Johns; a sister, Barbara Phillips of Salem, Illinois; a granddaughter, Grace Myers of St. Johns, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, and a grandson Jarod Myers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 23rd at 1:00p.m. at Freitag, Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington.
Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington.
