Age 78 of Elwood, and currently residing in Channahon, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born December 21, 1937 in Elwood, Raymond Francis was a son of the late William Albert and Lucille (Lamping) Hibner. He was raised in Elwood and graduated from Joliet Township High School. Ray served in the United States Navy, and on December 2, 1962, he married Mary Ann Austin in St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington. Ray farmed his entire life in the rural Elwood area; was a longtime Jackson Township Trustee and served on the Elwood School Board for many years. A fan of the Chicago Cubs, Ray enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and traveling to Las Vegas and Florida. He also took great pleasure in attending his grandchildren's activities and events.

Survivors include his five daughters: Tracy (Tim) Thompson of Morris, Terri (Tony) Baranski of Channahon, Tammy (Ray) Feeney of Hawthorn Woods, Tina Horkey of Morris and Toni (Dan) McCarty of Mokena; (14) grandchildren: Austin and Cole Thompson, Brandon, Taylor and Anna Baranski, Makenzie, Nolan, Colin and Addison Feeney, Isabelle Horkey, and Marcus, Jack, Julia and Genevieve McCarty; one brother Jim (Kathy) Hibner of Minooka; two sisters-in-law: Carolyn Jerome of Joliet and Betty Hibner of Naperville, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his dear friend Arlene Raffanti of New Lenox.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Ann on July 1, 2005; sister Betty Hibner; brother Bill Hibner and cousin Wes Greenwood.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Monday morning, January 25th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Dr. Roy Backus officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Elwood, where Ray will be laid to rest with his wife Mary Ann. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Ray's grandchildren.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Ray's memory to Maple Hill Cemetery Association.
