R. Daniel Carey

“Frog”

Age 56 of Morris, passed away Thursday March 27, 2014 at Morris Hospital.

Born November 6, 1957 in Streator, Robert Daniel is a son of Catherine (nee Venegone) and the late Robert V. Carey of Kinsman. He was raised in Kinsman; educated in the Mazon schools and graduated from MVK High School with the Class of 1975. Known to many as “Frog”, he retired as a Deputy from the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, after 28 years of service. Daniel was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Morris; enjoyed fishing, and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his mother Catherine Carey of Kinsman; children: Sarah Carey of Morris and Jordan Carey of Normal, and their mother Dawn Carey, and Jessica Carey and Megan Carey, both of Morris and their mother Toni Lowery; two grandchildren Audrey Catherine Weaver and Greyson Weaver; two brothers: Pat (Susan) Carey and Tim (Belinda) Carey, both of Kinsman, as well as his special friend Sherri Brown.

Daniel was preceded in death by his father Robert Carey (March 10, 2002).

Visitation will be held on Sunday March 30, 2014 from 2:00PM until time of funeral service 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Reverend John Hornicak will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services and a private family inurnment will be in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Ransom.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Daniel’s memory to: The Betty J. Sterritt Scholarship Fund c/o The Morris Hospital Foundation, 150 W. High Street, Morris, Illinois 60450 or to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
