Phyllis F. Schewe

Age 68 of Custer Park, passed away Sunday morning September 29, 2013 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Born October 4, 1944 in Chicago, Phyllis was a daughter of the late Walter and Myrtle Alison-Soltysik. She was raised and educated in Braidwood and on August 30, 1975, Phyllis married Kenneth Schewe in Pilcher Park. She was a collector of doll houses and angels, and enjoyed garage sales and thrift stores. Phyllis was be remembered for her devotion to her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Ken; three children: Dawn (Jim) Rodgers of Braidwood, John Garbin of Delaware, Ohio and Phillip (Michelle) Garbin of Godley; four grandchildren: Tarra Hammen, Ryan Garbin, Riley Bumpous and Kerra Wilmoth; three sisters: Susan (the late Terry) Frost of Wilmington, Colleen (Donald) Dodson of Texaco, Illinois and Pamela (Jack) McGowan of Florida; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews, as well as her faithful companion Paco.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; grandson Colt Rodgers; six brothers: Robert, Daniel, Richard, Phillip, John and Roger Soltysik and one sister Patricia.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Wednesday October 2, 2013 from 12:00 Noon until time of funeral service 3:00PM at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home. 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Reverend Dr. Roy Backus will officiate and burial will follow in Custer Township Cemetery, Custer Park.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Phyllis' memory to the Arthritis Foundation or Kidney Foundation.
