Philip Walter Laufer

Age 58 of Gardner and formerly Carbon Hill, passed away Wednesday July 30, 2008 at Hines VA Medical Center in Maywood.

Born December 14, 1949 in Hinsdale, Philip is the son of Martin Laufer of Litchfield, Illinois and the late Mildred Bode-Laufer. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and previously worked as a machinist at Joliet Equipment. In his free time Philip enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and camping.

Survivors include two daughters: Jessica Laufer and Kristin Laufer, both of Coal City; one son Dustin Laufer of Gardner; the mother of his children: Mary Ann Laufer (nee Greenback) of Gardner; his father Martin Laufer and one sister Kathy (Rev. Mike) Massa of Iowa, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Philip was preceded in death by his mother Mildred in 2004.

Visitation will be held on Sunday August 03, 2008 between the hours of 3:00PM and 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will then follow on Monday August 04th at 11:30AM in the funeral home with Dr. Thomas Logsdon from the Coal City United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Philips memory to his family for distribution to local charities of their choosing.
