Paul Van Duyne
Age 64 of Wilmington, passed away Sunday morning February 2, 2014 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born February 18, 1949 in Joliet, Paul was a son of the late Raymond and Dorothy Lukanich-Van Duyne. He was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School. In April of 1969, Paul entered in the United States Army, where he honorably served as a Door Gunner during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet for 15 years and later joined the Millwrights local, which took him as far as Alaska working various jobs. Paul was a life member of the Wilmington VFW Post 5422 and will be remembered as an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed wood carving and leaves behind many pieces of his handiwork, which include items from canes to signs.
Survivors include his wife Jody Miller; one granddaughter in Arizona and many, many cousins, including his good friend and cousin Pat Van Duyne of Wilmington.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter; one brother Ray and his buddy Blackie.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Thursday February 6, 2014 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Friday morning February 7th at 10:00AM in the funeral home with Reverend Justin Kinder from Main Street Baptist Church of Braidwood officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at 11:30AM.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Paul's memory to Kuzma Care Cottage, 635 South Main Street, Wilmington, Illinois 60481.
