Age 83 of Largo, Florida, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017.

Born July 8, 1933 in Chicago, Bud was a son of the late Betty and Ovila DesRochers. He was raised and educated in Chicago; graduated from Taft High School, and went on to earn a Diploma at Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1952. Bud worked as an associate for M.J. Suerth Funeral Home on the Northwest side of Chicago for 12 years, before moving to Wilmington. In 1963, after the death of O. L. Addleman, Bud purchased the Addleman Funeral Home from Mrs. Hyacinth Addleman, and continued to run the business as DesRochers Funeral Home and Ambulance Service until 1979. During his years in Wilmington, Bud was involved in many civic organizations including Rotary, the Lions Club, and the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Methodist Church and later attended First Presbyterian Church. He served on the Wilmington School Board, and enjoyed being active with the Boy Scouts and Wilmington Little League Baseball.  After selling the funeral and ambulance business in August of 1979 to Roger Freitag, Bud and his wife Lola moved to Largo, Florida, where they have resided for the past 38 years.

Bud leaves his wife of 46 years, Lola (Smock) DesRochers; children: Dee Moxley, Michael (Michele) DesRochers, Debra (Rene’) LaComb, James DesRochers (Kim Alvarez), Pam Kelley (Raul Rodriguez), Lynette (Mike) Dye, Terry (Rexie) Favero, Doug (Kathie) Favero, and Bobbi Lynne Silveira; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and many friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Lois Duca, and grandson: Joseph DesRochers.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the South Clubhouse at Palm Hill, 1800 Seminole Blvd., Largo, Florida 33778.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers, may be made as gifts in Bud's memory to: Suncoast Hospice Foundation , 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760.
