Norma Tambling

Norma L. Tambling of rural Dwight, passed away Tuesday March 31, 2009 at Meadowbrook Manor in Bolingbrook.

Born January 17, 1929 in Cabery, Illinois, Norma was the daughter of the late Orman K. and Mildred R. Hanson-Olson. She was raised and educated in Cabery and was a graduate of Cabery High School with the Class of 1946. On February 19, 1949, Norma married Lyle Tambling in Cabery and together they were married for more than 60 years. After high school Norma worked at Kroehler Furniture in Kankakee and later gained employment with Ahlness Chiropractic Clinic in Dwight, where she was a secretary and receptionist. Norma was also the secretary to the Superintendent of the Dwight School Districts for 10 years prior to her retirement. Norma was a member of the Church of Hope in Gardner, where she was involved with the church choir and also taught Sunday School. She was a former member of the Dwight Junior Women's Club, served on the Dwight School Board, was a member of the Reddick Senior Citizens and was a member and past president of the Dwight Band Parents. Norma loved ballroom dancing, cooking and sewing. She had a tremendous amount of pride in her family and truly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Lyle; eight children: Terrance (Carrie) Tambling of Morris, Peggy Tambling of Olympia Fields, Pamela Latta of Palm Coast, Florida, Patricia (Cary) Rosenbaum of Dwight, Phyllis (Cate) Tambling of Boise, Idaho, Pauline (Bill) Hoffman of Gardner, Michael (Shari) Tambling of Dwight and Chris (Maresa) Tambling of Florence, Kentucky; (15) grandchildren: Nicole (Scott) Logan, Rachel (Mark) Kemple, Linsay Tambling, Bradford and Brenton Latta, Joshua (Sherri) and Jason Sassenger, Chenoa (Donnie) Tolan, Dale (Bridget), Nolan and Lane Hoffman, Colton, Chaney, Jordan and Grant Tambling; (18) Great Grandchildren: Carli, Sam, Zack, Erin, Seth, Hannah, Ethan, Alauralyn, Quenton, Alex, Adam, Gavin, Cayden, Emalyn, Miley, George, Elsie and Audrey; two sisters-in-law: Ann Olson of Bourbonnais and Janice Tambling of Gardner; nieces and nephews: Bonnie Grieff, Betty Holly, Tom Tambling, Villa Tjelle, LaVaun Tira, Susan McDaniel, Tami Finn and Scott, Mike, Pat and Kelley Olson; as well as numerous cousins.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Cort Michael Tambling, one son-in-law David Andersen and one brother Wesley Olson.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Friday April 03, 2009 between the hours of 2:00PM and 8:00PM and Saturday April 4th from 12:00 Noon until time of funeral service 1:00PM at the Church of Hope, 202 North Monroe Street in Gardner. Pastor Jan Chandler will officiate.

Burial will be in Round Grove Cemetery in rural Dwight and Norma's grandchildren will act as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
