Nina Lorene Cooper (nee Gelsthorpe)A
Age 90 of Wilmington , passed away peacefully Thursday December 4, 2008 at Miller Rehabilitation Center in Kankakee .
Born December 21, 1917 in Waynesville , IL , Nina was a daughter of the late William and Effie Gelsthorpe. She was a 70 year member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington , where she was involved with the CCW, and Nina volunteered many years at Kuzma Care Cottage in Wilmington .
Survivors include her loving son Gary (Mary Lou) Cooper of Deerfield, IL; four grandchildren: Patrick (Maria) Cooper of Mequon, WI, Michael (Lisa) Cooper of Geneva, IL, Mary Beth (Bob) Bagg of Deerfield, IL and Christopher Cooper of Chicago; eight great grandchildren: Sara, Emily and Eric Bagg, Maria and Christian Cooper and Maggie, Danny and James Cooper and three sisters-in-law: Mae Cooper of Mazon, Louise Gelsthorpe of El Paso and Louise Gelsthorpe of Sun City, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Nina was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 59 years: Leo; two brothers: Dean and Joseph Gelsthorpe and two brothers-in-law: Paul and Laverne Cooper.
Visitation will be held at St. Rose Catholic Church, 624 S. Kankakee St. in Wilmington on Tuesday December 9, 2008 from 9:00AM until time of Funeral Mass 11:00AM. Reverend Steve Bondi and Deacon Don Dyer will officiate and burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington .
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Nina's memory to Kuzma Care Cottage, 635 S. Main St , Wilmington , IL 60481 .
