Nilsa E. Sochan, 75, of Morris, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with her loving family by her side.
Born March 29, 1949 in Isabela, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Luis and Inocencia (Calero) Lopez. She graduated from Escuela Superior Francisco Mendoza class of 1966. She married Daniel Sochan February 14th, 1989 in Morris, where they lived all of their married life. She was a lifelong employee at Morris High School and she continued volunteering at school activities and the Morris Hospital. She is survived by her loving husband, Dan: her children; Jimmy (Patty Enger) Narwick of Morris; Sheree Narwick of Morris; Tiffany Narwick-Krivos (Matthew) of Frankfort; and Christina Marek (Craig) of Frankfort; grandchildren: Jocelyn Narwick; Tony Narwick (Brittany); Devin Narwick; Hailee and Trey Marek; and six great grandchildren; brother Luis Lopez of Morris; sister Arelis Mena (Eloy) of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico; and brother Amil (Sue) Lopez of Vero Beach, FL. She is also survived by her mother in-law Marie Vieceli of Plainfield; sister in-law Cindy Sochan of Joliet; and brother in-law Dave (Donna) Vieceli of Joliet; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother in-law George Sochan of Joliet.
She was a staple and second mother to many in Morris. She was an active lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Morris Women’s Club and several other organizations. She was a recipient of the Woman of Distinction Award for Morris, IL.
She loved singing, dancing, feeding the birds, whistling, and most of all, spending time with her family and close friends.
Memorials may be directed to donor’s choice.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 15th, 2024 at 7 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris with Pastor Patrick Lohse officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at the church until time of service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
