Age 67 of Wilmington, entered into new life Friday December 27, 2013.

Born February 24, 1946 in Joliet, Nigel was a son of the late Roy and Marguerite Schutten-Robertson. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School and earned his Associates Degree from Joliet Junior College. Nigel honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1967. On June 1, 1968 he married Marie Therese "Terry" Pelletier in East Hartford, Connecticut and together they later moved back to Wilmington, where they made their home and raised their family. Nigel retired as a Chemical Operator from BASF after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #241, Braidwood American Legion #0039 and Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington. Nigel was an airplane enthusiast, held his single engine commercial pilots license and loved to fly. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and camping. Nigel traveled when he could, and enjoyed many memorable skiing trips and cruises. He was a handyman and will be remembered for his great sense of humor. Nigel took pleasure in making people laugh and was one who always put others first. His one great pleasure was his grandchildren, and they could always set a smile on his face.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years Terry; children: Bruce (Kathy) Robertson of Gibson City, Carolyn (Brian) Blanchette of Bourbonnais and Sheila Robertson-Swearengen of Wilmington; six grandchildren: Amanda Blanchette, Drake Swearengen, Kallen Robertson, Kacely Robertson, Rianna Swearengen and Miley Swearengen; two brothers and one sister: Neil (Linda) Robertson of Custer Park, Nicole (the late Richard) Deuschle of Kankakee and Ned (Diane) Robertson of Manteno; brothers and sisters-in-law: Linda Robertson of Wilmington, Bob (Edwina) Pelletier of Florida, Armand (Leslie) Pelletier of Forida, Dan Pelletier of Maine, Bev (David) Pelletier of Maine and David (Jeanine) Pelletier of Coal City, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nigel was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Austin Blanchette, sister Nancy Egizio, brother Noel Robertson; brother-in-law Richard Deuschle and nephew Danny Robertson.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Monday December 30, 2013 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. (815/476-2181) Funeral services will follow Tuesday December 31, 2013 at 1:00PM in Saint Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington. Reverend Steve Bondi will officiate and burial with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.

Pallbearers will be: Adam Egizio, Eric Egizio, Rory Robertson, David Pelletier, Neil Robertson and Ned Robertson.
