Naomi M. Francois

Age 97 of Maine Township, Coal City, passed away Sunday evening August 12, 2012 at her home.

Born June 21, 1915 in Brown County, Illinois, Naomi was a daughter of the late Earl and Hazel Smyers-Rentz. She was raised in Morris and graduated from Morris High School. Naomi married Leonard Francois and together they farmed with their family in Maine Township. She was proud to have been an election judge for 40 years, and greatly enjoyed collecting antiques. Naomi will most be remembered for her 40+ year dedication to 4-H, as well as for the close relationship she had with all of her grandchildren throughout the years.

Survivors include her daughter Lois Dyer and son Duane Francois, both of Maine Township; daughter-in-law Diane Francois of Braceville-Township; eight grandchildren: Beth (Lyle) Dettman, Amy Grobstein (Debbie Cardinal), Janet Grobstein (Mike Cantrell), Toni (Otis) Marechaux, Rhonda (Wayne) Wolfe, David (Laurie) Dyer, Darren (Kim) Francois and Darcie Ehrman; eight great grandchildren; one sister-in-law Carol Rentz of Ottawa and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leonard; daughter Alice Grobstein; son Donald Francois; grandson Dean Francois; son-in-law Ronald Dyer; two sisters: Glenna and Margie and two brothers: Bernard and Robert.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday August 16, 2012 between the hours of 3:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Private family funeral services will follow on Friday and interment will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
