Age 83 of Diamond, passed away Friday October 23, 2009 at her home.

Born October 10, 1926 in Springfield, Illinois, Naomi was a daughter of the late David O. and Grace Tinsley-Dodd. She was raised and educated in Springfield and after high school attended nurses training. On July 31, 1948 Naomi married Jesse R. Brown and he preceded her in death on July 04, 2004. Naomi worked at Morris Hospital and Lincoln Nursing Home, as well as practiced as a private duty nurse. She and her husband owned and operated Shabbona Camping Resort for a number of years, and Naomi was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City and the Eastern Star. She was known for her love of painting and writing poetry, and Naomi truly enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include four children: R. Brother Roger Mark Brown, SSJE of Cambridge, MA, Kathy (James, Sr.) Martis of Coal City, David (Kim) Brown of Minooka and Gordon K. Brown of Coal City; five grandchildren: James, Jr. (Stacey) Martis of Coal City, Brian Brown of Cobden, IL, Kirt Brown of Wilmington, Ashley Brown of Colorado and Hayley Brown of Minooka; three great grandchildren: Blake Adams, Chase Adams and Addison Martis; one sister Jeanne (John) Parret of Springfield, IL and brothers and sisters-in-law: Ed Beck of Mt. Prospect, IL, Katie Dodd of Springfield, IL, Robert R. (Florence) Brown of Jacksonville, IL, Alice Brown of Springfield, IL and Mary Rasmussen of Orange, CA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jesse; two sisters: Pearl L. Beck and Mary M. Magill and one brother Charles M. Dodd.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Monday October 26, 2009 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.

Naomi will then lie in state on Tuesday October 27, 2009 at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 80 North Garfield Street (at First Street) in Coal City from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 10:00AM. Pastor Heidi Johnson will officiate and burial will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Naomi's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Joliet Area Community Hospice or New Hope Presbyterian Church.
