Nancy Shelton-Young

(nee Rhodes)

Age 64 of Diamond died Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born August 20, 1957 in Carthage, Illinois, Nancy Jane was a daughter of Harry and Dorothy (Weeks) Rhodes. She was raised in Morris and Braidwood, and graduated from Reed-Custer High School with the Class of 1975. Nancy previously worked for Bellettini Foods in Wilmington, and was a member of Christian Life Assembly in Diamond. She made her faith a priority in her life. Nancy also enjoyed playing Bingo and loved her pet cats dearly.

Survivors include her brother and sisters: June (the late Frank) Roudis of Morris, Robert (Debra) Rhodes of Dwight, and Mary Lue (the late Vern) Heilman of Iola, Kansas; and four nephews: Robert (Lisa) Rhodes, James (Debra) Rhodes, Jason (Deidre) Rhodes, and Scott (Karen) Roudis.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands: Paul Shelton and Samuel Young; one brother, Harry Rhodes, and one nephew, Bryan Roudis.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and the family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Christian Life Assembly, 2960 East Division Street, in Diamond from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service, 11:00 a.m. Pastor Randy Adams will officiate, and inurnment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
