Nancy McEvoy (nee Reed)

Age 80, of Morris, passed away Saturday evening, June 19, 2010, with her family by her side.

Born in Chicago on September 11, 1929, Nancy was the daughter of the late Bernice K. Kelly-Reed and Harvey B. Reed. She was a graduate of Mundelein Cathedral High School in Chicago with the Class of 1947; attended St. Mary's College Notre Dame, IN and graduated from DePaul University in Chicago. On April 7, 1956, Nancy married Martin James "Jim" McEvoy in Saint Ignatius Catholic Church in Chicago, and they resided locally in Coal City from 1971 until moving to Morris in 1991. Nancy was currently self employed in sales, was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris and was a former volunteer at Morris Hospital. She was known for her love of reading and cherished the time spent with her family.

Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Martin James McEvoy for almost 50 years; devoted mother of Kathy Hansen of Plainfield, Nancy (Roger) Thorson of Morris, Teri McEvoy (Bill Leff) of Evanston, Marty (Sarah) McEvoy of Newmarket, New Hampshire, Patti McEvoy (Paul LeBeau) of Evanston and Michael (Visnja) McEvoy of Kansas City, Kansas; cherished grandmother of Erik Hansen, Sean Hansen, Emily Hansen, Kalene Berta, Megan Thorson, Ryne Thorson, Kiley Leff, Reese Leff, Michael McEvoy, Ryan Ervin, and Benjamin LeBeau and loving sister of the late Harvey B. Reed.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Tuesday June 22, 2010 between the hours of 5:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris.

Funeral services will follow Wednesday June 23rd at 10:00AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 545 East Jackson Street in Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Richard L. Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood and pallbearers will be: Marty McEvoy, Michael McEvoy, Roger Thorson, Paul LeBeau, Erik Hansen, Sean Hansen and Bill Leff.
