Nancy Jean Leinweber

Age 86 of Carbon Hill, passed away Saturday morning, November 14, 2015 at her home.

Born January 5, 1929 in Chicago, she was a daughter of Harry W. and Gertrude Hildebrandt-Mattull. She was raised and educated in Chicago, and graduated from James H. Bowen High School with the class of 1946.  On December 22, 1948, Nancy married William “Bill” Leinweber in Chicago.  All of their married life they lived together in Chicago and Glen Ellyn, prior to moving to Carbon Hill. Nancy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chicago and the Ladies VFW Auxiliary in Western Springs. In years past, she was active with the Boy Scouts of America, and will most be remembered for her love of her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons: Keith (Donna) Leinweber of Genoa and Lee Leinweber of Carbon Hill; two daughters-in-law: Barbara Leinweber of Braidwood and Erin Leinweber of Wheaton; seven grandchildren: Sara Leinweber, Katie Leinweber, William T. Leinweber, Mary Grace Lane, Brehan Holoka, Chaz Kuhn and Jason Leinweber and four great grandchildren: William K. Leinweber, Carleigh Margaret Holoka, Michael James Holoka and Emma Lane.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill, son Kurt Leinweber and seven brothers and sisters: Tom, Bill, Dorothy, Harvey, Jimmy, Howard and Betty.

Private graveside services were held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, where Nancy was laid to rest with her husband Bill. Reverend Brad Shumaker from the Coal City United Methodist Church officiated.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Nancy’s memory to VFW Post 10778 in Western Springs, IL
