Myra Jo Parrish
Age 67 of Braidwood, Illinois and formerly of Joliet, Illinois died Sunday morning, October 4, 2026 at The Parc Joliet.
Born June 6, 1959, in Joliet, Myra Jo was a daughter of William Elbert “Ebb” and Virginia “Ruth” (Forren) Wickline. She was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Central High School with the Class of 1977.
Following high school, Myra went to work for Folger Adam, where she met James Robert “Bob” Parrish. The two were married on April 18, 1981, and together made a home and raised their family. In 1990, the family settled in Braidwood, where Myra would remain for the years to follow.
Alongside her most cherished roles as a wife and mother, Myra worked for Lifetouch, traveling throughout school districts across five counties. Through her work, she helped capture countless school-day portraits and memories that families would treasure for years to come.
Myra found happiness in the comforts of home and the simple things that made life special. She tended a flower garden and had a particular gift for decorating for the holidays, with Christmas holding an especially dear place in her heart. Annual trips across the country became a treasured part of the family calendar, creating memories and stories that would be recalled long after everyone returned home.
The kitchen was another place where Myra shined. Her family fondly said she “cooked like an angel,” and cooking channels frequently had her attention. Few things, however, could compete with Little House on the Prairie, which she was perfectly content to watch again and again. She also enjoyed the traditions and excitement that came with the changing seasons, from family games at the holiday gatherings to having fun with family watching NASCAR races and the Kentucky Derby.
Above all else, family was at the center of Myra’s life. She took genuine pleasure in simply being with her children and grandchildren and made it a priority to be present for the moments that mattered to them. When her children were young, she chaperoned field trips and faithfully followed their activities. As the years passed, that same devotion naturally extended as a "Grandmoo" to her grandchildren. Whether the occasion was large or small, Myra could be counted on to be there, and there was little question that she was their biggest fan.
Myra’s life was built around the people she loved and the memories they created together. Though gone from sight, She leaves the unmistakable imprint of a life centered on family, a home made warmer by her presence, and a lifetime of moments that will continue to be shared, remembered, and treasured by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her loving husband, Bob; daughter, Jessica (Joe) Nowdomski of Wilmington, and son, Darrell (Renee) Parrish of Channahon, Illinois; grandchildren: Spencer Parrish of Wilmington and Abigail Parrish and Allison Parrish, of Channahon; brother-in-law, Tom Glenn of Custer Park, Illinois and sister-in-law, Ginger (Stan) Wisnieski of Channahon; aunt, Helen Reineke of Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, particularly the 1st cousins, who rule…
