Mrs. Frank N. (Shirley W.) Marsaglia
Age 85 of Coal City, passed away Wednesday September 26, 2007 at Walnut Grove Rehabilitation Center in Morris.
Born January 11, 1922 in Coal City, Shirley was a daughter of the late Albert and Ella (Spellman) Wilson. She was raised and educated in Coal City and Graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1939. Shirley was a graduate of Silver Cross College of Nursing in 1945 and on February 14, 1948 she married Frank N. Marsaglia in Coal City. Shirley worked as the office nurse for Dr. Roman P. Smyk in Coal City for more than ten years and was later employed at Grundy County Home and Morris Hospital. She was a very active member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City and in her free time was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her daughter Mary Ella "Emmy" (David) Bates of Maumee, Ohio and son The Honorable Rob (Karen) Marsaglia of Coal City. Three grandchildren: Evan Bates of Maumee, Ohio and Margaret Marsaglia and John Marsaglia, both of Coal City and one brother-in-law William Davito of Joliet, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank in 1971, one grandson Andrew Bates; one brother Albert Wilson, Jr. and six sisters: Mary (Melvin) Smith, Merle (Bill) Vigliocco, Ruth (Joe) Hanley, Emmagene (Myron) Vestal, Margaret Wilson and Carol (Bill) Haughtigan.
The family will receive friends on Saturday September 29, 2007 from 12:30PM until time of memorial service 2:00PM at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 80 North Garfield Street (at First Street) in Coal City. Rev. Larry Boutelle will officiate and a private family interment will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Shirley's memory to The New Hope Presbyterian Church Women's Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
