Milton E. Hanson, Sr.
Age 86, passed away peacefully Saturday September 12, 2009 at his home.
Born February 23, 1923 in Sioux Falls, SD, Milton was a son of the late Henry and Rose Freeman-Hanson. He was a US Army Veteran, who served in World War II throughout the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters of Operation under General Patton, and received over 17 medals, which include a Purple Heart and 3 Bronze Stars. Milton was employed by the Folger Adams Corp. and the US Government with UniRoyal Corp. He was known for his love of fishing and visiting with his family.
Survivors include his children: Douglas (Dee) Hanson of Shelbyville, IL, Shirley (Don) Kroesch of Herscher, Rose Planinsek of Wilmington, Milton, Jr. (Michelle) Hanson of Pontiac and Kenneth (Wendy) Hanson and Kanice (Bob) Findley, both of Decatur; several step children; his twin brother Melvin of Maryland; two sisters: Phyllis and Colleen of Missouri and numerous grand and great grandchildren.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Shirley Ann; second wife Doris and two children: Harry Lee Hanson and Betty Jean Holt.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Wednesday September 16, 2009 from 11:00AM until time of funeral service 1:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Rev. Ron Taylor will officiate and burial will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Milton's memory to his family for their distribution.
