Age 82 of Wilmington, passed away Thursday October 23, 2008 at Rosewood Care Center in Joliet.

Born December 11, 1925 in Manhattan, Illinois, Millie was a daughter of the late Jacob and Eula Stewart-VanDuyne. On November 10, 1946, Millie married Lawrence "Slim" Wallen in Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington and Slim preceded her in death. Millie worked as a local Beautician for many years and was a member of Saint Rose Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was very involved with the music ministry.

Survivors include her children: Thomas (Karen) Wallen of Crystal Lake, Lauren (Larry) Zeller of Channahon, Mary Ann (Robert) Hansen of Rock Island, Lawrence Wallen, Jr. of Wilmington, Douglas (Tammy) Wallen of Champaign and Vanessa (Stephen) Tulley of Wilmington; (19) Grandchildren; (6) Great-Grandchildren; brothers and sister: Francis (Kathryn) VanDuyne of Coal City, Mary (the late Turner "Terry") Turan of Wilmington and William (Elaine) VanDuyne of Mesa, Arizona; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joyce VanDuyne, Betty VanDuyne, Rose VanDuyne and Charlotte VanDuyne, all of Wilmington, Phyllis Wallen and Lindy (Lee) Wallen, both of International Falls, MN and Theodore Wallen of Bloomington, MN, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents: Jake and Eula VanDuyne; husband Lawrence C. Wallen, Sr.; two grandchildren: Zachary Zeller and Jake Wallen; brothers and sisters: Claude (Marge) VanDuyne, Alvin VanDuyne, Joseph VanDuyne, LeRoy VanDuyne, Robert VanDuyne, Eileen (Arden) Gerrish, Agnes (Bill) Moorman, Florence (John, Sr.) Jacklich and Virginia VanDuyne

Visitation will be held at Saint Rose Catholic Church, 624 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington on Monday October 27, 2008 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM.

The family will then again receive friends on Tuesday morning October 28th from 9:00AM until time of funeral services 10:00AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Steve Bondi officiating and burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.
