Michael John Togliatti, Jr.
Age 62 of Morris and formerly Coal City, passed away Friday morning March 16, 2012 at his home.
Born July 26, 1949 in Joliet, Mike was a son of the late Michael John "Spikes" Togliatti, Sr. and Betty M. Guiney-Togliatti. He was raised in Coal City and graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1967. Mike retired in 2002 as a line foreman at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet, after 34 years of service. He was member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris; Coal City Lions Club, Morris Moose Lodge #967, Sons of the American Legion in Morris, Fraternal Order of Eagles #1024 in Morris, the Coal City Area Club and the Rod and Gun Club. Mike will be remembered for his enjoyment of playing pool, camping, boating and bowling.
Survivors include his wife Becky (nee Vaksdal); daughter Lisa (Billy) Smith and son Michael John Togliatti, III (Jennifer Nicoletti), both of Coal City; two grandchildren: Brett Smith and Alec Smith; sister Ann (Merle) Elam of Coal City; nieces and nephew: Joanna (Shawn) Dames of Coal City, Brian (Taushia) Elam of South Wilmington and Stephanie Elam (fiance, Ken Smith) of Coal City; his step father Thomas Fedash of Coal City; father-in-law Gordon Vaksdal of Morris and three sisters-in-law: Debra (Jay) Zielinski of Mazon, and Betty (Paul) Polarek and Galynn Vaksdal (fiance, Mike Fleming), both of Morris.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Esther Vaksdal.
Memorial Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Tuesday March 20, 2012 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. A Memorial Service will follow Wednesday March 21st at 10:00AM in the funeral home with Reverend Ed Howe, CR officiating. Inurnment will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mike's memory to Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice or the Coal City Lions Club.
