Age 61 of Coal City, passed away Monday April 15, 2013 at the home of his son in Bonfield.

Born November 2, 1951 in Joliet, Mike was a son of the late Joseph and Irene Carpenter-Phillips. He was raised in Coal City and attended Joliet Catholic High School. Mike worked as a self employed concrete contractor and co-owned Vilt-Phillips Construction. He enjoyed bottle collecting, the outdoors and singing. "Bull of the Woods"; The Best on the River, will most be remembered for his love of fishing.

Survivors include his three sons: Mike (Jenn) Phillips of Coal City, Scott Phillips (Lydia Wilson) of Bonfield and Tony Phillips of Coal City; three grandchildren: Brandon Phillips, Jake Phillips and Hannah Phillips; one brother Joseph (Margaret) Phillips of Coal City and one sister Karen (David) Togliatti of Goose Lake; one sister-in-law Phyllis Phillips of Coal City and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Jack Phillips and one sister Janice (Joseph) Bertoglio

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday April 18, 2013 between the hours of 5:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.

Burial will follow Friday morning April 19th at 10:00AM in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington. Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Brandon Phillips, Todd Togliatti, Greg Phillips, Mark Phillips, Kenny Carpenter and Joe Phillips.
