Michael W. Hayden

Age 71 of Wilmington passed away Thursday July 14, 2016 at Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Administration Hospital.

Born December 21, 1944 in Joliet, Michael was the son of Thomas E. and Margaret K. Kelly-Hayden. He was raised and educated in Wilmington, and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School. Michael served honorably in the United States Army, and will be remembered for his love of playing golf and card games.

Survivors include his son: Thomas (Margaret) Hayden; stepchildren: Tony (Heather) Distefano, Marc (Dulce) Distefano and Gina (Dustin) Conger; seven grandchildren: Connor Hayden, Christopher, Aliya, Phoebe and Zoey Distefano, and Taylor and Logan Conger; two siblings: Thomas Hayden and Sheila Hayden, and the mother of his children: Barb Hayden.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Mary Ann Hayden.

Visitation and video tribute will be Tuesday July 19, 2016 at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will follow on Wednesday July 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., in the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Michael's memory to Trinity Services.
