Age 71 of Braceville, passed away Friday evening November 11, 2011 at Morris Hospital.

Born July 20, 1940 in Ironton, Ohio, Melvin was a son of the late Grover and Maxie Brown. He was raised and educated in Wilmington and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet as a Machinist, after 30 years of service. Melvin was a member of the Hickory Hills Campground in Secor, Illinois and will be remembered for his great love of cars, camping and fishing.

Survivors include three children: Dianna (Phillip) Hollis of Gardner, Melba (Mark) Clark of Reddick and Mitchell (Stacy) Brown of Braidwood; seven grandchildren: Phillip (Katie) Hollis of Coal City, Joseph Hollis of Marseilles, Mark, Jr. (Danita) Clark of Reddick, Max (Ashley) Clark of Braceville, Matthew Clark of Reddick and Corey Brown and Katelyn Brown, both of Braidwood; seven great grandchildren: Jared and Jackson Hollis and Aiden, Zachary, Caleb, Peyton and Layla Clark; one sister Buelah of Florida, and the mother of his children: Mildred Turner of Custer Park, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; son Matthew Brown (1973), daughter Ginger Brown (2006), wife Delores and one brother Buddy.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Wednesday November 16, 2011 from 4:00PM until time of services 7:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Pastor Ron Taylor from Island City Baptist Church in Wilmington will officiate.
