Maureen E. Chaney "Mo"
Age 70 of Wilmington, passed away Monday April 30, 2007 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 2, 1936 in Peoria, Maureen was a daughter of the late Maurice and Mary (Hollaway) Sharp.
Maureen left her family the importance of unconditional love, hardwork, family loyalty and the power to overcome adversity. She was employed in the purchasing department at Silver Cross Hospital for over 15 years, as well as held numerous other local jobs that she always performed at 100%. Maureen was known for sharing her smile and having a positive attitude with all who came into her presence. She once owned Maureen's Restaurant in Joliet and also Chaney's Food Store (Formerly Hooper's) in Wilmington. Maureen's greatest joy was sharing time with her family and co-workers. She was a fantastic cook and nurturer, loved the Wilmington Wildcats, the Cubbies and the Bears.
Maureen was a former member of the Wilmington School Board and was very proud of being one of the original committee members to begin WILCO for local students.
Survivors include one son James (Bev) Chaney of Wilmington; four daughters: Becky (Rick) Hansen, Pam (Mike) VanDuyne and Michele (Andy) Rush, all of Wilmington and Kathy (Steve) Horwath of Mokena. (18) Grandchildren: Alicia, Curt, T.J., Nick, Michael, Katy, Matthew, Christopher, Stephen, Mickey, Nicole, Bethani, Mark, Corey, Kaylee, Timothy, Aleks and Joey and "Gigi" to five: Brock, Easton, Karlie, Markie and Olivia. Mo is also survived by her former husband Ron Chaney and special friends: Nancy Nelson, Evelyn Spinozzi, Joe Holmes and Babe Proffit, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday May 3, 2007 between the hours of 3:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow on Friday May 4th at 11:00AM in the funeral home with Pastor David Lagos-Fonseca, Pastor Shirley Pulgar-Hughes, Pastor Allan Holder and Deacon Donald Dyer officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Maureen's memory to the Wilmington High School Foundation for Excellence or the Wilmington Catbackers.
