Mary Joan Bodell
"Sadie"
Age 77 of Wilmington and formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, December 22, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born January 10, 1939 in Chicago, Mary Joan was a daughter of the late Bernard and Dorothy (Alm) Brady. She was raised and educated in Chicago where she would later meet the love of her life Leonard Frank "Butch" Bodell, Sr., whom she married in 1959.
Sadie was a member of the Will County Sportsmans Club, and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed the home shopping network.
Survivors include her husband Butch; four children: Brenda Tagler of Oak Lawn, Leonard, Jr. "Butch" (Donna) Bodell of Plainfield, Robert Bodell of Oak Lawn and Barbara (Richard) Clemens of Chicago; (10) grandchildren: Dominick, Gregory, Justin, Jeremy, Christopher, Katlyn, Joseph, Ryan, Sean and Claire; brother: Raymond (Justine) Brady of Orland Park, and step-sisters: Joann Wellner, Shirley Wellner and Barbara Wellner, all of Chicago.
Sadie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Mike and Thomas Brady.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Wednesday, December 28th at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood at 2:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mary Joan's memory to the American Cancer Society.
