Age 90 of Morris, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Morris Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Born July 16, 1926 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Mary was a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Medeiros) Barboza. She married Isaac Stearns and he preceded her in death. Mary Ann retired from Christ Community Hospital in Oak Lawn, and 7 years ago moved to Morris, where she resided at Elliott Manor. Mary Ann enjoyed knitting, going out to eat, and attending family gatherings. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend, who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children: Ken (Karen) Stearns of Morris, Mark Stearns of Fargo, North Dakota, Lynn (John) McGinty of Zavalla, Texas and Kim Stearns of Lansing, Illinois; (16) grandchildren and (16) great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann was preceded in death her parents; husband Isaac; one sister and one granddaughter.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service 3:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Reverend Ed Howe, CR from Immaculate Conception Parish in Morris will preside.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morris.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mary Ann's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
