Age 87 of Wilmington, Illinois and Tucson, Arizona, passed away Wednesday morning June 8, 2011 at Provena Villa Franciscan in Joliet.

Born January 9, 1924 in Joliet, Mary was a daughter of the late Joseph and Angela Baskerville-Spangler. After birth, she came home to Manhattan, Illinois, and at the age of 14 months, Mary moved with her parents to the Baskerville ancestral home East of Symerton, Illinois. She was a graduate a Joliet Township High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree, as well as over time, acquired 62 graduate hours from University of Arizona. Mary taught 42 years in the Tucson Unified School District, had many volunteer jobs and can be remembered for always trying to keep busy.

Survivors include her brother Richard J. (Mary Patricia) Spangler of Wilmington; nieces and nephews: Joseph (Nola) Spangler of Wilmington, Robert P. Spangler of Moline, Illinois and Thomas R. (Kathy) Spangler, Diane (Tom) Housman and Thomas J. (Vicky) Spangler, all of Wilmington; great nieces and nephews: Mike (Tracy) Spangler of Moline, Rick Spangler of Bettendorf, Iowa, Jennifer (Dan) Morris of Godley, Illinois, Jackie (Rob) Park of Manhattan, Illinois, Brian (Danielle) Spangler of Avon, Indiana and Ashley Housman, Tiffany Housman, Jimmy Housman, Dylan Spangler and Lucas Spangler, all of Wilmington and great-grand nieces and nephews: Reece, Carter, Miley, Lexi and Alivia, as well as her sister-in-law Lori Spangler of Rock Island, Illinois.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Angela Spangler and one brother H. James Spangler.

The family will receive friends on Monday June 13, 2011 from 9:00AM until 10:30AM at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow at 11:00AM in Saint Rose Catholic Church, 624 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Steve Bondi officiating.

Burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Manhattan and pallbearers will be: Thomas R. Spangler, Thomas J. Spangler, Robert P. Spangler, Brian Spangler, Mike Spangler and Rick Spangler.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mary's memory to Kuzma Care Cottage, 635 South Main Street, Wilmington, Illinois 60481
