Age 86 of Wilmington and formerly Chicago, passed away Thursday morning January 19, 2012 at home.

Born September 6, 1925 in Bellshill, Scotland, Mary was a daughter of the late George Mitchell (a.k.a. Jurgis Kedis) and Anne Ulickuite-Mitchell. She was raised in Scotland until immigrating to the United States in 1949. On June 27, 1953, Mary married Telesfore J. Kerulis in Chicago at Immaculate Conception Parish. She will be remembered for her tremendous passion for reading.

Survivors include her three children: Anne (Thomas) Baker of Algonquin, Patricia Kerulis of Kankakee and John F. (Mary) Kerulis of Wilmington; five grandchildren: Valerie (Joshua) DeSousa of Cary, Jill Baker of Algonquin and John Kerulis, Amy Kerulis and Joseph Kerulis all of Wilmington, and two great grandchildren: Owen DeSousa and Brienna DeSousa, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Telesfore on January 11, 1993 and two sisters: Rubina and Nellie.

Visitation will be held on Saturday January 21, 2012 from 11:00am until time of funeral service 1:00pm at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Pastor Caleb Counterman will officiate.

Per Mary's request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services, and her ashes will be returned to Scotland.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Mary's memory to Hospice of Kankakee Valley
