Mary J. Enrietta
Age 90 of Diamond, passed away Friday afternoon September 26, 2014 at Morris Hospital.
Born July 23, 1924 in Joliet, Mary Josephine was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Clara (Pierard) Berta. She was raised in Coal City; graduated from Coal City High School, and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois. Mary began her teaching career in Hinsdale and later gained employment with Garfield Elementary School in Morris, where she taught 2nd grade for many years until retiring. On July 16, 1960, Mary married George Anton Enrietta in New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City, and he preceded her on July 14, 2013. Mary was an active member of New Hope, belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Sorority, and was a member of the Grundy County Retired Teachers. She took great pleasure in reading and gardening, and greatly enjoyed her family.
Survivors include four nephews: Robert T. (Chris) Fulton of Galesburg, Thomas J. Fulton of Coal City, John (Claudyne) Hill of Ohio and David (Carol) Hill of Virginia, as well as numerous grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband George; brother Thomas Berta, sister Eleanor (Sam) Fulton, sister-in-law Marie (Leroy) Hill and grand nephew Mark Fulton.
Visitation and video tribute will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 80 North Garfield Street (at First Street) in Coal City on Wednesday October 1, 2014 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow Thursday October 2nd at 10:00 a.m. in the church with Reverend Janet M. Chandler officiating.
Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, where Mary will be laid to rest with her husband George.
Pallbearers will be: Bob Fulton, Tom Fulton, John Hill, David Hill, Brian Fulton and Nick O'Bert. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Bosonetta, Leroy Wakeman and Glenn Baker.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mary's memory to: American Cancer Society, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or American Heart Association.
