Age 76 of Coal City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024 at Park Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Morris, Illinois.
Born on April 11, 1948, in Joliet, Illinois, Mary Lou was the cherished daughter of Myron D. and Margaret Katherine (Hockings) Cobb. She spent her formative years in Coal City, Illinois, where she received her education, graduating from Coal City High School.
Mary Lou dedicated 27 years of her life to ExxonMobil before embracing retirement in December 1999. Her commitment to her work reflected her strong work ethic and resilience. She was a devout member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Coal City, finding solace and community in her faith. Those who knew her best will fondly recall her joy in watching daytime game shows, a simple pleasure that brought her comfort and happiness.
In the hearts of those who knew her, Mary Lou's spirit will live on, cherished, and remembered for the warmth and kindness she shared with all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
Survivors include several dear cousins, as well as special friends: Donna Zaccaria, Edward Nowman, Helen Talty, Tom Hill and Dave (Karen) Turk.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Myron D. Cobb Jr.
A visitation will be held at at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 215 South Kankakee Street in Coal City on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Father Josh Miller presiding and Deacon Bill Dunn, assisting.
Burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery where Mary Lou will be laid to rest with her family.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mary Lou's memory to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
