Mary Janet (Lawrence) Carr

Loganville, GA. – Mary Janet (Lawrence) Carr, 88, went to be with the Lord, Saturday July 4th, 2015.  She died unexpectedly, though peacefully, surrounded by family.

Mary is survived by her seven children: Larry (Kathy) Carr of Scottsdale, AZ, Sue (Dennis) Hillard of Camarillo, CA, Jim Carr of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Becky (Terry) Sterling of Wilmington, IL, Jewell (Craig) Ross of Douglas, GA, Jay (Brenda) Carr of New Lenox, IL and Bruce (Shelley) Carr of Waxahachie, TX.  Mary is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father Dennis Lawrence, mother Cora (Moore) Lawrence, husband Jewell Dean Carr, and brother Ralph Lawrence.

Mary graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1945.  She married Jewell Dean Carr on June 1, 1946.  She was a scout leader, church member and newsletter editor.  She was employed by the Jamison Insurance Agency as receptionist and Danville Area Adult Day Care as office manager.  She worked as a quality control inspector for the Joliet Army Ammunitions Plant, Uniroyal, Durkee Foods and Chuckles Candy.  She also worked as an assistant on Alzheimer’s research through the University of Illinois at Carle Clinic in Danville, IL.

Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church in Wilmington, IL on Friday, July 24 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.  The Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Wilmington, IL on Saturday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Wounded Warrior Project or to the donor’s choice.
