Mary Kathryn Biros
Age 91 of Mazon, passed away Saturday November 8, 2014 at Park Pointe in Morris.
Born April 21, 1923, Mary Kathryn was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Genevieve Dolan-Poole. She was raised in Mazon and graduated from Mazon Township High School. In her early years, Mary Kay worked for Mr. Hornsby before going to work at Biddle Oil in Morris. She managed the books for the family farms and was also a bookkeeper for AOK in Mazon until her retirement. Mary Kay was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, belonged to the Mazon Women's Club and was a charter member of Coal City Area Club. She loved to play pinochle, fish and the outdoors in general. Mary Kay played the organ and in years past not only took pleasure in ice skating, but taught her grandchildren to ice skate.
Survivors include her children: James (Diana) Biros of Morris and Barbara (Roger) Lund and Bill (Eileen) Biros, both of Mazon; eight grandchildren: Kristi (Tim) Meece of Burr Ridge, Korine (David) Mayberry and John Biros, both of Morris, Brian (Kelly) McArdle of Florida, Kimberly Robertson of Texas, Allen (Misty) Biros of Coal City, Andrew (Krista) Biros of Mazon and Matthew (Janelle) Biros of Gardner; (19) great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband John and one sister Mardelle Shostrom.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Tuesday November 11, 2014 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Wednesday morning November 12th at 10:00 a.m. in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery, where Mary Kay will be laid to rest with her late husband John.
Pallbearers will be: John Biros, Brian McArdle, Allen Biros, Andrew Biros, Matthew Biros, Scott Biros and Cash Biros. Honorary pallbearers will be: Kristi Meece, Korine Mayberry and Kimberly Robertson.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mary Kay's memory to the Mazon Centennial Park or Joliet Area Community Hospice.
