Mary L. Berglund
Age 79 of Gardner, passed away Wednesday April 14, 2010 at Morris Hospital.
Born April 10, 1931 in Morris, Mary was a daughter of the late Leo and Mayme Prograce-Kenney. She was raised and educated in Morris and was a 1949 Graduate of Morris High School. On August 18, 1951, Mary married Donald W. Berglund in Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington. Upon Donald's honorable discharge from the United States Navy in 1953 they made their home in Gardner for the remainder of their married life. Mary was known for her love of cooking, and cherished the time spent with her grandkids.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years: Donald W. Berglund; three children: Patti Pfaff (Fred) and Donny Berglund (Cindy), both of Gardner and Michele Watson (fiancAC. Bruce Skroblus) of Coal City; six grandchildren: Karrie (Aaron) Bargo of South Wilmington, Brian (Trisha) Berglund of Coal City, David Berglund of Gardner, Matthew Watson and Alex Watson, both of Coal City and Christian Berglund of Gardner; three great grandchildren: Austin, Derek and Kassidy; one sister Phyllis Knudson of Coal City; one brother Michael Kenney of Mazon and one sister-in-law Norma Kenney of Mazon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Gerald and Leo Kenney and one sister Joan Vota.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Sunday April 18, 2010 between the hours of 3:00PM and 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 203 Liberty Street in Downtown Gardner. Funeral services will follow Monday April 19th at 10:00AM in the funeral home with Reverend John Hornicak from Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington officiating.
Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood and pallbearers will be: Brian Berglund, Matthew Watson, Alex Watson, Aaron Bargo, Bruce Skroblus and Thomas Perkins.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Mary's memory to the Gardner Fire Department, 206 East Depot Street, Gardner, Illinois 60424 or Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice, 518 West Illinois Avenue, Morris, Illinois 60450.
