Mary Alice (Goffinett) Bain

Born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on April 30, 1927 and passed away on March 14, 2017 after a long battle with pulmonary disease.

She resided in Wilmington, Illinois with her late son's family. Mary retired from Johnson & Johnson (Personal Products in Wilmington) after 25 years of service. Mary loved to make quilts, crochet, play bingo and travel. Her dream was to visit 49 state capitol buildings and she made it up to 35.

Mary is survived by two children: Alice Arline Burns (William) of Clinton, Arkansas and Orlie "Bill" Latham (Rebecca) of New Lenox; three sisters: Evelyn Runnels of Linton, Indiana, Zella Fitts (Donald) and Patricia Panarese both of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents: Arnold J. and Rose (Schmitt) Goffinett; sisters: Bernadine Schmitt and Maxine Goffinett Baker; brother: Paul Goffinett; sons: Ronald J. and Larry A. Bain and grandchildren: William (Joe) Latham, Emily R. Latham and Tracy Harris Leach.

Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 907 Luther Drive in Wilmington on Thursday, March 16, 2017 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Mary will then return to Mt. Vernon, where the family will receive friends at Hughey Funeral Home, 1314 Main Street in Mt. Vernon (618-242-3348) on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 1:00 p.m. The Very Reverend John Iffert will officiate.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, where Mary will be laid to rest with her son Ronald.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Mary's memory to the American Cancer Society,
